What do I need to do before I go overseas so that I can roam?

Can I call Customer Care from another country?
Yes. Simply dial the plus sign (+) followed by 1-441-500-5611 from your mobile phone.
Can I use the same number when I travel?
Yes, your number will be the same regardless of where you are.
Do I need a special phone to call international numbers from the US?
No. All you need to do is dial "+" followed by the country code, city code, and local number.
Will calls and voicemail I receive from home cost extra?
Both incoming and outgoing calls are billed at the international roaming rate for the country you're in. Voicemail is also billed at the same rate.
Can I receive international calls? How much do they cost?
Yes. Incoming international calls cost the same as any other incoming call while roaming.
How do I set up my account for international long distance?
Contact a local long distance provider: TBI or Cable & Wireless.
How do I make and receive calls when roaming internationally?
To make a call while you are roaming overseas, whether you’re calling within the country or to a location outside it, simply dial "+" and the country code, the city code (if necessary), and the local number. To make a call to Bermuda, simply dial +1441 followed by the seven digit number, or 1441 followed by the seven digit number.
What is the "+" key and how do I use it?
The "+" key on your Digicel phone lets you make international calls without knowing the international access code of the country from which you are calling. Access the "+" key according to your phone’s manufacturer:
· BlackBerry®: Press Alt (bottom, far left on keyboard) and the letter "O."
· Motorola: Press and hold the zero key until the "+" sign appears.
· Nokia: Press the star (*) key twice in rapid succession.
· Samsung: Press and hold the zero key until the "+" sign appears.
· Sony Ericsson: Press and hold the zero key until the "+" sign appears.
How do I use voicemail while roaming internationally?
You can access your voicemail account from anywhere in the world by simply hitting the “+” key followed by 1-441-508-6245 or by simply calling your own number.
If calling your own number:
· Let the phone ring until you hear your voicemail message.
· Interrupt the message by pressing the star key (*).
· Enter your four-digit password.
*Be aware that international roaming fees apply to voicemail retrieval.
How do I contact Customer Care while roaming?
You can reach Digicel Customer Care by hitting the “+” key followed by 1-441-500-5611 from your mobile phone. From a landline phone, dial the International Direct Dialing prefix for the country you are in, followed by 1-441-500-5611. This call will incur international roaming fees.

Yes, you will be able to call foreign countries based on the IDD service of the network you are roaming on.

There is no difference in sending SMS and making calls, just ensure you are sending it to an 11 digit number.

· Step 1: Insert "+"
· Step 2: Enter the Country Code
· Step 3: Enter the area code and the mobile number.
Can I see the number of my callers on my mobile screen when I am roaming?

Does my phone work overseas?
GSM mobile phone networks around the world use four different frequency bands: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, or 1900 MHz.
Single/Dual band (GSM)
Most European GSM networks use 900MHz and 1800MHz frequencies. Check your handset user manual to find out which frequencies your handset operates on.
Tri-band (GSM)
Many GSM networks in the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and South America use the 1900MHz frequency. A tri band handset allows you to use the 900MHz and 1800MHz frequencies as well as the 1900MHz frequency. Check your handset user manual to find out if your handset is tri-band and can operate on the 1900MHz frequency.
Quad-band (GSM)
While uncommon, some Southern and Central American networks do operate on the 850MHz frequency. Check your handset user manual to find out if your handset is quad-band and can operate on the 850MHz frequency.
3G

Will there be a special way to check my balance while roaming?
• While roaming, when the need arises to do a "flex check", the following option is available:
o Simply press *120# and send as usual and you will be given a balance update on the screen of your phone.
What will happen if my balance is too low to make/receive a call?
If your balance is below the required amount for making a call and you try to call someone, you will hear a "low balance" tone and the call will not go through, once you top-up again, you will regain the services of your phone.
If someone tries to call you while your balance is too low, the call will not be connected.
Data Roaming
How am I charged for data roaming?
Data roaming is charged at a premium and is charged at the international data roaming rate, which varies depending on the network and country in which you are roaming. The rates are on a per MB basis, charged in 1 KB increments. Data charges when used overseas are excluded from your cap. Browsing the internet, sending or receiving emails, using applications such as BlackBerry Messenger™, Google Maps™, Skype, and Facebook, or subscriptions to RSS feeds will all incur premium roaming data charges.
Are GPRS and 3G charged differently when roaming?
GPRS and 3G roaming are charged at the same data usage rates.
Is Mobile Internet available for roaming?
Mobile Internet is not a roaming product because of the potential for incurring high roaming charges.
