THE SALVATION ARMY TURNS TO DIGICEL TO ENHANCE OPERATIONS

Digicel Donates Phones & Service to Aid Community Efforts

HAMILTON, BERMUDA – JUNE 14th, 2009: Digicel Bermuda is supporting for The Salvation Army by donating five BlackBerry devices and voice service, waiving all activation and set up fees. This contribution will help their team in their endeavors to assist the less fortunate citizens of Bermuda.

The Salvation Army is an international movement, known for its social and charitable work. The Salvation Army seeks to bring Christian salvation to the poor, destitute and hungry by meeting both their physical and spiritual needs, but its ministry extends to all, regardless of ages, sex, colour or creed.

“We know that the cellular phones and the complimentary service that we have given to the Salvation Army will be used to change lives by strengthening our community.” said Wayne Caines, CEO of Digicel Bermuda. “The Salvation Army has done outstanding work in Bermuda for a number of years. Digicel is proud to partner with them and we hope that the cellular phones that we provide can aid them in their various community projects.”

On Tuesday, July 14th, Digicel had the pleasure to meet the optimistic Salvation Army team who included: Major Doug Lewis (Divisional Commander), Major Wayne Loveless (Executive Director, Community Services), Ivor Minors (Manager Emergency Housing), Lynn Gordon (Family Service/Thrift Store), Lorena Jean (Life Skills Trainer/Counselor) and Augustina Raynor (Program Director Harbour Light, Life Skills Program). They were extremely grateful and appreciative for the contribution.

Major Doug Lewis, Divisional Commander at the Salvation Army said: “In meeting the needs of people who fall between the cracks in society communications becomes the key to working them through the continuum of care. The donation of these Blackberry's from Digicel will make us more available and allow us to provide our services in a much shorter time frame."
